Aim: The aim of the research is measuring protean career attitude of the phisical education teachers working at public and private schools in Manisa city centre and bringing the differences between the attitudes of protean careers according to the demographic characteristics of teachers out. Method: The research consists of physical education teachers working at public and private schools in Manisa city centre. 109 physical education teachers, 35 of whom are working at private schools and 74 of whom are working at public schools, contributed to the research. Protean Career Attitude Scales are used the research. For analysing the research data in SPSS 15.0 for Windows statistical software package, Exploratory Factor Analysis, t-test and One Way ANOVA are used. To determine the differences between independent veriables (age, gender, marital status, child status, educational status, working time at work, working time in the institution, number of employment, received salary and salary satisfaction) and protean career attitudes, Tukey test is taken into account. Findings and Results: In the present study, it was found that self-directed career attitudes which is one of the lower dimensions of the multiple career attitudes was high in the physical education teachers in Manisa and in the private universities according to the comparison between private and state universities. In addition to this, it was established the values-driven career which was directed to values of the physical education teachers who worked for at least 16 years and at the age of 41-50 were high. The significant changes were found in self-directed career attitudes of the teachers who were single and worked for 1-5 years. Significant differences werent showed in gender, child status, educational status, number of employment, received salary and salary satisfaction variables of Socio-demographic characteristics. It was observed that the physical education teachers who works in the centre of Manisa and at the private schools there prefered the self-directed career attitudes.
