Arabs in America come from a shared regional heritage. Depending on factors varying from acculturation to reasons for immigration, their shared experience may lead to different levels of participation, engagement and accessing mental health care. Differences among the subgroups of Arab Americans can bring forward the various concerns for practitioners to be aware of in order to provide culturally competent care. Mental health care utilization and access to care is an area of importance for research. This literature review was conducted with a focus on a multidisciplinary approach to explore the different issues faced by Arab Americans that can impact their access to appropriate mental health care.
